Kundo Koyama

Script writer and broadcast writer. Born in Kumamoto Prefecture in 1964. He started writing while enrolled at the Department of Broadcasting at Nihon University College of Art. He was involved in innovating TV with shows like Iron Chef and Humiliation of Canossa. His film, Departures, won Best Screenplay at the 32nd Japan Academy Awards and Best Foreign Language Film at the 81st Academy Awards. In addition to writing, he is the Vice President of Kyoto University of the Arts, a project advisor for communities and companies, and the head of Shimogamo Saryo. He is also the creator of Kumamon.
